How to tune remote Rostelecom to TV: connection, tuning and encoding methods

Rostelecom is a universal provider on the territory of the Russian Federation. Provides access not only to the Internet, but also to TV.

And to connect to the latter, you use a special TV console. It comes with a special remote control.

And you can easily set it up to control the TV and other home appliances. Because such remotes are configurable, in their memory are "stitched" codes to almost all common models of TV.

How to configure it? And what does a user need to know about the revisions of a Rostelecom set-top box?

What buttons are on the remote control?

On a universal remote from Rostelecom (including the new model - Vink) there are the following buttons:

1. TV. A button that switches the control of the remote control from the set-top box to the TV. That is, by default it can be used for devices at once.
2. POWER. Turn on the set-top box (or put it to "sleep" mode) and the TV itself (depending on which device control is selected right now).
3. AV. Switches the signal sources when the remote control controls the TV. The default setting is Antenna input, one press displays the source selection menu (input switching).
4. MENU. Button to display the menu.
5. CH. There are 2 buttons (labeled + and -). They allow you to switch on the next or previous channel in the current list.
6. VOL. Also 2 buttons (marked + and -). Increase or decrease the current volume on the set-top box and the TV. If HDMI CEC is used, the volume is simultaneously adjusted on both devices.
7. Back (shortcut with corresponding arrow). Returns to the previous page in the settings menu.
8. PiP. Switching on "Picture-in-Picture" mode.

Totally there are 30 buttons on the remote control.

In addition to the aforementioned keys, there is a number block, and also a navigation bar (4 arrows to move through the menu and a button to confirm the selection). This is true for all revisions of the remote control.

There are also buttons for navigating to "teletext". And it is them, by the way, can be configured to control third-party equipment. Since almost no one uses them (most TV channels do not have teletext at all).

How to manually configure the remote control

To start with, it's worth noting that there were 3 revisions of remote control for Rostelecom set-top boxes:

1. 1-я. All labels and signatures on the remote control are in blue. It does not support key programming mode. That is, it has a built-in set of codes for controlling only common TV models. Therefore, is not compatible with all TV.
2. 2-я. All labels and signatures on the remote control are in purple. Has the same keys as the 1st revision. But in addition to this - supports reprogramming, copying signals from any other remote.
3. 3-я. All designations and signatures are in orange. Functionality is the same as the 2nd revision. The only difference is the addition of an internal battery to save the settings. That is, if you remove the batteries, the settings of all the entered signals are saved. In the 2nd revision, all the parameters were reset to the factory settings after this. And the adjustment had to be repeated after removing the batteries.

How to configure them

The basic configuration of the remote control of any revision is performed in the same way.

You will need:

1. Insert the batteries. Press 2 keys simultaneously: Power and OK. You need to hold them for about 5 - 10 seconds until the indicator light comes on.
2. Release the two buttons. Immediately enter the 4 digits that represent the coding of the TV with which the remote control is synchronized.
3. Press OK. This must be done within 3 seconds after entering the combination of digits. Otherwise remote control will automatically restart and enter standard mode.

If everything is done correctly, then after pressing the "TV" button on the remote control it will switch to TV control.

To check it, just press VOL- or CH- several times. Accordingly, the TV should decrease the volume or turn on the previous TV channel.

Copying signals from the original remote control to the TV

It's possible that you won't be able to configure the remote control by entering the numeric code of the remote control. In this case the only option to enable it is to use signal copying mode.

To copy an arbitrary signal from the original remote control you need:

1. On the Rostelecom remote control (remote 1) press and simultaneously hold down the CH+ and VOL+ buttons. Hold until the light indicator blinks.
2. On the original TV remote control (remote control 2), select the button whose signal you want to copy. Point its infrared transmitter at the sensor of remote control 1. Press this button.
3. At this moment the light indicator on the transmitter 1 should blink again. This indicates that the signal reading is successful. The remote control is switched to the mode of assignment of the copied signal.
4. Press the button on transmitter 1 to which you want to set the signal you have just copied.
5. On transmitter 2 point the infrared sensor to transmitter 1 again, press the button to be copied. Then press the button on the remote control 1 to which the copied signal is to be set. And so repeat until the user has assigned all the keys he needs.
6. Next - do not press any buttons on the remote 1 for 20 - 30 seconds. It will automatically restart, the standard operating mode will be activated.

How to reset

If you mistakenly entered a wrong code or the remote control started working incorrectly, you need to reset it to the factory settings before you set it again.

There are two ways to do this:

1. For the 1st and 2nd revisions. Just remove the batteries, wait 5-10 seconds and put them back. All parameters will be reset to zero, all copied commands will also be deleted.
2. For 3rd revision remotes. If you simply remove the batteries and put them back, all the settings will be saved. Therefore, you need to put the remote control into programming mode. That is, press the TV and OK buttons simultaneously and hold them for 5 - 10 seconds until the indicator light blinks. Then enter code 977 and press OK again. The remote control will automatically turn off after this, turn on, and blink the indicator light twice. This means that its settings have been reset to the factory state.

Codes for different TV models

Each TV manufacturer uses 1 to 3 sets of codes for all their TV models, regardless of what year they were produced. Accordingly, you only need to know this very code to configure the remote control.

For the popular TV models the following are used:

• Sony - 1825;
• Bravio -2676;
• Toshiba - 1508;
• Philips - 0556;
• Panasonic - 1636;
• DEXP- 2807;
• HiSense- 0170;
• LG - 1840 or 0556;
• Xiaomi - 0634;
• Samsung - 2051 or 0587.

There is also a detailed table with a list of all codes for compatible televisions in the manual itself, which comes with the TV set-top box from Rostelecom. You should also try to enter them (if no changes have occurred after entering the above).

Setting for Smart TV

Synchronizing the remote control with the Smart TV is performed in the same way. That is, you need to put the remote control into programming mode, enter the code of the original remote control. Or you can use the copy mode.

You should also take into account that some manufacturers already produce TVs which do not have an infrared sensor at all. And there is no way to sync the Rostelecom remote control with these TVs.

Alternatively, you can consider using your smartphone as a remote control for Smart TV. Samsung, LG and Xiaomi have similar applications.

You only need to synchronize your TV and smartphone beforehand (detailed instructions on this are given in the TV manual itself).

What to do if there is a remote control conflict

This often occurs if the user has another TV set-top box installed. For example, Xiaomi Mi Box running Android TV.

In the first versions of this gadget, it was possible to connect an infrared remote control (in the future it was abandoned in favor of Bluetooth remotes). And it is possible that when you press the button on the remote Rostelecom at the same time the command will be sent to this console and the other TV-Box.

It is possible to fix it, because the remote control from Rostelecom has 3 built-in sets of signals, each of which is compatible with this set-top box. Accordingly, if there is a conflict with one set, you can simply switch to another.

This is done as follows:

1. Press 2 keys simultaneously: Power and OK. Hold for 5 to 10 seconds until the indicator light blinks.
2. Enter 4 numbers quickly: 3221, press OK.
3. Check whether the remote control conflict has been resolved.
4. If not, repeat the procedure, but use code 3222, 3223, 3224 (selectable).

You can also set the corresponding parameters directly in the settings of the device. This is done in the "System settings" section.

You need to select the item "Reprogram", and then just follow the prompts that are shown on the screen.

To summarize, the remote Rostelecom, which comes with the set-top box (it can be purchased separately without any problems) is really universal. And with it you can control your TV (and any other appliances that have an infrared receiver).

And it is recommended to buy the 3rd revision because it supports the widest range of TV signals. And also it saves the settings when you remove the batteries. You only need to set it up once. Built-in battery to save parameters is designed for 3 - 5 years of use.
